Life is too short for long hair!

When I got my new hair cut recently, I was swamped by queries about why I did that. While the majority of my friends, family and strangers as well loved my new hairdo there were some who still said that I shouldn't have done it because my longer tresses looked so much better. So, I finally decided to open up about why i took the decision to cut my hair.

Living life with a dreaded disease like cancer isn't easy and there are many young girls who unfortunately suffer from such diseases. So when I was still deciding whether or not to go for the chop, my colleague told me about this wonderful organization called the 'Little Princess Trust' where I could donate my hair to and they use this hair to make wigs for young girls suffering from dreaded diseases like cancer. I researched more about this trust and was amazed by the work they do.

Little Princess Trust provides real-hair wigs free of charge, to children and young adults up to the age of 24 who have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other medical conditions. They have certain criteria in order to be able to donate your hair for instance the hair has to be of a minimum length of 17 cm and other factors and when I realized I met all of them nothing, not even myself, could stop me from getting the chop.

Yes I love my new look regardless of what anyone says but most importantly it makes me feel happy within and that satisfaction of being able to light up some else's life without even meeting them is an inexplicable feeling. Being able to feel the pain of someone without understanding what they must be going through is beautiful. It is a joy that only a heart can feel for another and am sure when a little girl suffering from cancer somewhere wears a wig made of my long tresses and smiles, my heart would be smiling even brighter.

The reason I am sharing this is to inspire more people to be thoughtful towards others. I've always been a person who's never let people's opinions or judgements affect me and I do what I feel is right. So regardless of how you think I look, all I know is that I feel great about it and that's all that matters, isn't it?
